The phone comes with a 6.53 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of FHD+ (2340×1080). This display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. This slightly disappointed while Comparing to last generation Redmi Smartphones. Because the last generation Redmi 8 Smartphone had Gorilla Glass 5 protection. This display also contains Dot drop style notch and thin bezels. For that reason, it achieved an 89.83% screen to body ratio and a 19.5:9 Aspect ratio. Overall, the display experience is quite impressive. Redmi says this display gets Blue light certification. So, you can comfortably spend long hours on your phone without eye strain.
Redmi 9 has regular plastic back with a textured design. The unique circular design around the camera module gives a sense of balance and elegance. This design philosophy already used in Redmi K30, or the Poco X2, depending on where you live. The back features a textured design that prevents fingerprints and keeps the device looking brand new at all times. With a gradient color design, for a unique look. It has three color options Carbon Grey, Sunset Purple, and Ocean Green. The weight of Redmi 9 is 198g and thickness is 9.1mm. So, not easy to hold in a single hand. For security purposes, Redmi 9 contains a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, as well as a face, unlock option. Also, the Redmi 9 smartphone has IR blaster too.
There are four cameras at the back of the phone. The primary camera is a 13MP wide-angle lens with an f2.2 and FOV 75.2°. The second sensor of the rear camera is 8MP Ultra wide-angle lens with an f2.2 and a FOV 118°. The third sensor is a 2MP depth camera with an f2.4. The 2MP Depth Camera lets you adjust the depth of the field. It reduces unwanted background noise from your images to make them look more professional. Finally, that quad-camera setup has a 5MP Macro camera with an f2.4. It shoots with clarity and quality, helping you bring out the ultra-fine details of your close-up shots. Redmi 9 Video Recording Resolution is FHD (1920 x 1080)@30fps.
For selfie, Redmi 9 has an 8MP selfie camera with an f2.0 lens. This 8MP front camera gives you clear, high-resolution photos. Redmi 9 selfie camera has special Palm shutter option to take selfies with friends by holding up your palm.
Redmi 9 is powered by a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 Processor. This processor is one of the best upgrade over the last generation Redmi 8 smartphone. This processor has a powerful Mali ARM G52 MC2 GPU. So, the Gaming experience of a Redmi 9 is not bad. Helio G80 is the most powerful gaming processor in this segment. Already Realme Narzo 10 Smartphone has the same processor. Also, Redmi 9 has 3GB & 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 32GB & 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage option. It has an expandable storage option via MicroSD card.
The Redmi 9 runs MIUI 11 based Android 10. This phone has all MIUI features like Dark mode and Triple finger screenshot.
The Redmi 9 holds a 5020 mAh massive battery. It also supports 18W fast charging and USB Type-C port. But In-box Redmi provides only 10W (5V/2A) charger.
Price and Availability:
Redmi 9 is available in a 3GB RAM, 32GB Storage variant priced at EUR 148 (about Rs.12,724), and a higher-end 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant priced at EUR 179 (Rs.15,389). The Indian price and availability are not yet confirmed.
The Redmi 9 is a lower version of the Indian Redmi Note 9 Pro smartphone. Redmi Note 9 Pro starting price in India is Rs.14,000. Also, Redmi Note 9 is ready to launch in India very soon with a price tag of Rs.12,000. So definitely, Redmi 9 comes under Rs. 10,000. In my point of view, Redmi 9 is the best entry-level smartphone. If Redmi 9 will come Rs.10,000 price tag in India, it would definitely give competition to Realme Narzo 10 smartphones.
